Counselling for Adults & Seniors

icon_seniorsMental Wellness is Important at Every Age!

Mental health issues affect 1 in 4 people – left untreated these issues can significantly impact  relationships, one’s career or adjustment & satisfaction in retirement, physical body, mind and/or spiritual connection.

Why does this happen?

Decreased mental health can be rooted in unhealthy thinking patterns or beliefs, a lack of social support, multiple barriers that have built up or have occured all at once, issues that cycle/repeat, or occur over a long period of time without change.   In addition, some families may be predisposed to particular mental health concerns or behavioral patterns.

Do you suffer from any of the following symptoms?

Counselling and professional support may be helpful to address any of the following symptoms you may be experiencing:

  • Decreased interest in activities that you previously found enjoyable
  • Increased isolation
  • Anxiety, may or may not include panic attacks
  • Insomnia/difficulty sleeping
  • Self-harming behavior
  • Ongoing patterns of conflict or increased conflict; feelings of rage
  • Over eating, disinterest in eating or controlled eating that may be affecting other aspects of your life such as social situations/relationships or physical health
  • Frequent headaches, migraines, muscle tension/pain or poor physical health
  • Nightmares or flashbacks of traumatic event/s
  • Increased forgetfulness or confusion that impacts daily tasks
  • Disinterest or significant decline in self-care
  • When feelings of anger, fear, sadness, numbness, shame or grief and loss are predominant and not balanced by positive emotions such as happiness, joy, excitement etc.

This is not an exhaustive list, so if you are experiencing any ongoing behaviors, thoughts or feelings that are negatively impacting your daily functioning or those around you, please call to set up a consultation to discuss your situation. We are here to listen.

Please seek immediate support:

  • If you have any thoughts of hurting yourself or plans of suicide

I can handle this myself, why ask for help?

Many people try to cope with high levels of stress on their own and do not express how intense their feelings are experienced or what they are thinking or doing to cope.  This can lead to the misuse of alcohol and drugs, distances in relationships and a deep sense of loneliness and/or hopelessness that can compound the original issues.  Help is available and reaching out is an act of courage!
